Video game company Ubisoft plans to permanently lay off 93 workers at its San Francisco office, according to a state filing.
The layoffs are scheduled to take effect Aug. 10 at Ubisoft’s office at 300 Mission St., according to a WARN notice filed Monday.
The filing does not say which jobs are affected. Ubisoft did not immediately provide additional details.
The cuts follow Ubisoft’s earlier decision to shut down its San Francisco game studio after discontinuing “XDefiant,” its free-to-play first-person shooter. That move affected about 143 workers in San Francisco, though the company said at the time that its business office would remain in the city.
Ubisoft, the French publisher behind “Assassin’s Creed,” “Rainbow Six” and “Just Dance,” has been cutting jobs and restructuring operations globally. The company told investors in May that its headcount had fallen to 16,590 at the end of March, down about 1,200 from a year earlier.
The latest San Francisco layoffs come as Ubisoft closes or restructures other offices.
Game Developer reported Wednesday that the company was closing studios in Winnipeg and Belgrade and planning additional job reductions elsewhere.
