Building Our Future: Ferndale Schools Bond Improvements Take Center Stage

(Ferndale Schools Superintendent Camille Hibbler, June 11, 2026)

Ferndale, MI – As we approach the final weeks of the academic year, there is a palpable sense of energy throughout our schools. While our students and staff are busy finishing strong in the classroom, another kind of transformation is happening across our campus. I am thrilled to share an update on the vital work being powered by the 2020 Bond Program community residents generously approved.

This summer, Ferndale High School will be a hub of activity as we execute approximately $9 million in planned improvements. These investments are turning our shared vision for modern, high-quality facilities into a reality.

Elevating Athletic Spaces

If you’ve passed by our athletic fields recently, you’ve likely seen the progress we have made on the baseball and softball field renovations. We are working hard to ensure these updates cross the plate by this fall, so our student-athletes can enjoy these premier spaces during their next sports seasons. It is a joy to provide our students with facilities that match their hard work and school spirit.

A New Act for the Arts

Our performing arts programs have long been a crown jewel of Ferndale, and I am especially excited about the extensive changes coming to our auditorium. This space is being revitalized from top to bottom with new seating, flooring, curtains and professional-grade lighting and audio systems. To further support our creative students, we are adding a brand-new Scene Shop building addition and dedicated dressing rooms. These upgrades ensure that our behind the scenes environment is as professional and inspiring as the performances our community enjoys on stage.

Modernizing Our Essentials

Beyond the stage and the field, we are also focusing on the everyday environments that impact student life. This includes comprehensive renovations to our high school gymnasium locker rooms and a building-wide refresh of restrooms. These updates ensure that our facilities remain clean and comfortable. These projects represent a significant investment in the legacy of Ferndale Public Schools.

We are deeply grateful to our community for the continued support and partnership in building a district where every student has the tools and environments they need to thrive. To that end, we look forward to sharing details about upcoming projects that will be covered under the 2025 Bond Program.

As we look toward the 2026-2027 school year, we do so with immense pride. The future is being built right here in Ferndale, and it has never looked better!
