SAN JOSE — A woman is dead and a man suspected of stabbing her is in the hospital after a violent encounter at a luxury apartment complex in North San Jose late Thursday, police said.
Officers were called around 11:45 p.m. to an apartment in the 80 block of Descanso Drive, off North First Street for a report of a stabbing, and they arrived to find a man and woman suffering from stab wounds, according to San Jose police.
Both people were taken to the hospital, and the woman died from her injuries, police said. Her name was not publicly released pending her formal identification and notification of her next of kin.
The injured man was identified in a Friday news release as being “responsible for the stabbing and was known to the victim,” but police declined to immediately identify him, and said the motive and circumstances behind the attack remain under investigation.
The stabbing marked the city’s 11th homicide of the year investigated by San Jose police; the same number of homicides had been recorded in San Jose at the same point in 2025.
