Orange County Coast and San Diego County Coastal Areas are included in a beach hazards statement released by the National Weather Service on Friday at 12:20 p.m. The statement is valid from Saturday 2 a.m. until Monday June 15, at 8 p.m.
The NWS San Diego CA informs, “South swell from 190 degrees with a period of 13 to 15 seconds will generate surf of 3 to 6 feet with sets up to 7 feet along south-facing beaches. High rip current risk. San Diego County Surf will be slightly lower but, hazardous swimming conditions with high rip current and longshore current risk will still exist.”
“Hazardous swimming conditions with high rip current and longshore current risk. If you become caught in a rip current, yell for help. Remain calm and do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help. If you have to swim out of a rip current, SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly,” according to the NWS. “Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.”
