Authorities find no one else inside a canal after man claims family needed to be rescued

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A man was assisted out of the canal on Friday, claiming he was rescuing his family.

Fresno Police and firefighters responded to a canal in the area of Dakota and Cedar.

The man was claiming that his family was in the canal and needed to be rescued.

The man jumped into the canal, but the canal was only knee deep.

Authorities assisted him out of the canal.

According to authorities, the man appeared to be hallucinating and was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

There was no one else located in the canal.
