THEIR MISSION IS TO END CANCER, AND IT’S GOING TO LOOK SHOWCASE LOCAL CHEFS, LOCAL INGREDIENTS. AND IT’S REALLY BRINGING TOGETHER THE COMMUNITY AND PUTTING ON A GOOD CAUSE. I LOVE IT. SO A LOT OF LOCAL TALENT COMING TOGETHER AND WE AS A REGION ARE KNOWN FOR OUR CULINARY TASTE, SO WE’RE VERY LUCKY THAT WAY. SO WE HAVE TO BREAK THE NEWS TO EVERYONE THAT IT IS SOLD OUT THIS YEAR. BUT THAT’S GREAT BECAUSE IT’S GOING TO A GOOD CAUSE. ABSOLUTELY. AWESOME. OKAY, SO KIND OF TALK ME THROUGH WHAT PEOPLE CAN EXPECT BECAUSE WE’RE KIND OF PITCHING IT FOR PEOPLE TO LOOK OUT FOR IT NEXT YEAR BECAUSE THEY CAN’T COME THIS YEAR. BUT IT’S BENEFITING A GREAT CAUSE. BUT KEEP AN EAR OUT BECAUSE NEXT YEAR YOU CAN HAVE A PART OF THIS. SO WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT FOR TONIGHT? THEY CAN EXPECT DELICIOUS FOOD. IT’S NOT JUST DOING THE DESSERTS. WE GOT 800 DESSERTS. WE’RE DONATING. I CAN SHOW YOU THOSE. NOW. SO WE’VE GOT FOUR DIFFERENT DESSERTS. WE’RE SHOWCASING. THOSE ARE GORGEOUS. AND SOME OF THE INGREDIENTS IN THE DESSERTS ACTUALLY HELP PREVENT CANCER, FIGHT CELL DAMAGE. THEY HAVE ANTIOXIDANTS, OTHER COMPOUNDS. SO IT’S GOING TO REALLY ALSO BE EDUCATIONAL FOR A LOT OF THE THE PEOPLE AT THE FUNDRAISER. I LOVE IT. Cultivate, an annual fundraiser benefiting The American Cancer Society, returns Saturday to serve delicious food for a good cause. The event features local chefs concocting unique dishes for an unforgettable dinner. This year, dishes are inspired by World Cup nations and feature cancer-fighting ingredients. Sky River Casino is donating 800 desserts and Sky River’s executive pastry chef Troy Barry reflected on his role in the fundraiser. “It’s bringing together the community and putting on a good cause,” Barry said. “Some of the ingredients in the deserts actually help prevent cancer, fight cell damage, and have antioxidants or other compounds. So it’s going to be really educational for the people at the fundraiser.” Tickets for this year’s dinner are sold out, but more information on ways to donate and about the event can be found at the event’s homepage.
