RainMeteorologist Tamara Berg said clouds will increase Tuesday, and rain could begin before sunrise Wednesday, around 5:30 a.m.The heaviest rainfall is expected along the coast and north of Interstate 80. Gusts could also range in the Sacramento Valley between 30-40 mph. Over the Sierra, gusts could range from 35-45 mph.Below are the forecast amounts for Wednesday:Valley: 0.10 to 0.50 inchesFoothills: 1 to 3 inchesSnowBerg said snow levels will likely stay above 7,00 feet, with areas such as Donner Summit receiving about 3 inches of snow and Echo Summit receiving about 5 inches through 11 p.m. Wednesday. Northern California could see dry conditions by Thursday.The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Advisory for the Sierra due to wind gusts having the potential to reach 65 mph.Snow could also lead to slick roads and possible chain controls over the Tahoe-area summits.
