Six people were arrested and dozens of others were cited on Friday during World Cup celebrations in Hermosa Beach, according to police.

The Hermosa Beach Police Department was in “maximum enforcement” mode as fans watched Team USA’s first game in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With the highly anticipated match taking place at Los Angeles Stadium, which is what SoFi Stadium will be known as during the global event, the city’s police were out in heavy patrols.

The department’s drone helped with the enforcement and patrols, resulting in six arrests and 34 citations, the police said.

Charges that stemmed from the citations and arrests included DUI, public urination, possession of illegal drugs, public intoxication and more.

“We would like to remind Hermosa Beach to celebrate the World Cup responsibly,” the Hermosa Beach Police Department said. “We will be taking a zero-tolerance approach to all quality-of-life crimes that affect our community.”
