Rod Stewart canceled his Friday show in San Diego about 45 minutes before he was due to take the stage, but some fans are now wondering what the real reason was behind the cancelation.

The show’s promoter, Live Nation, said a sinus infection was the reason for the last-minute cancelation.

However, the following day, Rod posted to his Instagram account as he and two of his sons were flying to Boston to see Scotland in the World Cup, and even sang in the post.

That news prompted multiple angry posts to Instagram from fans. A representative for Stewart said the 81 year old singer was administered a few rounds of steroids and treatment but he had no voice and was unable to perform.

Stewart’s next scheduled concert is tonight, in Colorado.
