Three candidates have been announced for the vice president of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence role.
The role will oversee the Diversity Initiative Resource Centers, risk management and ADA accommodations, among other divisions.
The finalists for the role are Walla Walla Community College’s Vice President of Human Resources Marco Baeza, Nevada State University’s Associate Vice President for Human Resources Steven Kenney and Cal State Fullerton’s Interim Vice President of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence Phenicia McCullough.
Baeza previously served as vice-chancellor of Human Resources at Coast Community College District and has held positions serving within HR in the city of Compton and various school districts across Southern California.
He taught in CSUF’s and Cal State Long Beach’s Leadership Education Doctoral Program.
Kenney has served in senior HR and diversity inclusion roles since getting his degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in educational leadership.
He has worked in universities across the country, at Framingham State University, Nicholls State University and St. Catherine University.
McCullough has been the interim vice president of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence at CSUF since earlier last year, but has been at CSUF since 2001.
Prior to McCullough, David Forgues was the last permanent vice president of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence before he became the interim vice president of Student Affairs.
The candidates held forums to discuss their own “vision and how they plan to move Fullerton Forward,” referring to the university’s strategic plan.
All three candidates had the opportunity to hear from students and speak about their own goals for the role.
Campus members had the opportunity to provide input on the candidates before the search committee, which will make a recommendation.
This recommendation will be submitted to CSUF President Ronald Rochon, who will make the ultimate decision.
