Members of San Diego’s congressional delegation are urging the U.S. Small Business Administration to continue supporting businesses hurt by ongoing Tijuana River pollution.
Representatives Juan Vargas, Scott Peters, Sara Jacobs and Mike Levin sent a letter asking what assistance has already been provided and requesting continued help as South Bay communities face a fifth straight summer of beach closures.
Lawmakers say untreated wastewater and debris flowing from the river have driven away tourists and hurt local businesses that depend on beach visitors.
Congress has already secured more than 650-million-dollars to address the pollution and upgrade the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant.
