OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – A man from South Lyon won more than $1 million playing a fast cash game he didn’t want to play.
The 68-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, played the Detroit Lions Fast Cash game, a game he says he has never had any luck playing.
The man told the Michigan Lottery that he usually tells the cashier to give him any of the fast cash games, but not the Detroit Lions game. The man forgot to tell the cashier not to play that specific game, and that is the ticket he was given.
“The next morning, when I looked over the ticket and saw I’d won the jackpot, I stopped my wife as she was walking by, handed her the ticket, and said: ‘You’re not going to believe this!’ Once she saw what I’d won, she started crying,” said the lucky winner. “It was an exciting and emotional day for us.”
The winner bought his ticket at the Speedway Gas Station on Pontiac Trail in South Lyon.
The lucky winner plans on taking care of his family with his winnings.
Fast Cash tickets range in price from $2 per play up to $30 per play. According to the Michigan Lottery, every Fast Cash ticket gives players a chance to win all or part of the progressive jackpot.
