A 91-year-old man died after he was swarmed by hundreds of bees in the backyard of his West Covina home, police told NBC4 Investigates.
The man was working in the yard last week when he apparently inadvertently disturbed a beehive. He was swarmed by hundreds of bees, West Covina police said.
A neighbor, who last saw the man Sunday or Monday, found him dead in the backyard, authorities said.
No foul play was suspected. The case was forwarded to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office, which listed the cause of death as toxic envenomization. The medical term refers to an injection of venom.
