Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Sacramento
The Sacramento Police Department said the 16-year-old was found on Wisconsin Avenue with a gunshot wound.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Sacramento over the weekend, police said. Sacramento police said on Wednesday that Rene Monjaras, of Sacramento, was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges related to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police said no other suspects are believed to be outstanding. Jail records indicate he is not eligible for bail. On Sunday, police responded to the 500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, west of Northgate Road, just before 12:30 a.m. There, officers located the teenage boy with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on scene, despite lifesaving measures. Investigators later determined that the shooting happened before 12:15 a.m. in the 3500 block of Taylor Street before the boy was found on Wisconsin Avenue.Police previously said a person of interest had been taken into custody.
