Re “Neither party appeals to working-class voters” (June 12): The college professor’s limiting the scope to working-class voters mimics the discriminating approach of the political parties he criticizes. Focusing on the working class ignores the vast majority who are dissatisfied with the processes and results of decision-making of both Republicans and Democrats. Middle- and upper-middle-class people have a choice. One party is run by a vengeful, egotistical autocrat who frightens our representatives into strict obedience using threats of retribution. The other party seems self-defeating and internally split at the national level. But at the local and state level, it is centered on pleasing its political bases as it uses its supermajorities in ways that harm local communities.
Who makes the decisions for both parties and when if ever will those decisions be based on the needs and desires of the public and our nation or city?
