TURNING TO OUR COMMITMENT 2025 COVERAGE. CALIFORNIA’S SPECIAL ELECTION IS TOMORROW. PROP 50 ASKED VOTERS TO DECIDE WHETHER TO REDRAW CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS TO FAVOR DEMOCRATS. KCRA 3’S LETICIA ORDAZ REPORTS. ELECTION OFFICIALS HAVE A MESSAGE AHEAD OF THE POLLS OPENING. WELL, A LOT OF EXCITEMENT AND BUZZ HERE TODAY. WE’VE ALREADY SEEN A NUMBER OF PEOPLE DROPPING OFF THEIR BALLOTS OUT FRONT, BUT HERE IS THE PROCESSING ROOM. AND THIS IS WHERE BALLOTS ARE BEING COUNTED HERE TODAY. AND THE MESSAGE IS IT’S NOT TOO LATE FOR YOU TO GET INVOLVED AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD. I’M HERE NOW WITH KEN CASPARIS, WITH SACRAMENTO COUNTY, AND YOU REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO GET OUT THERE AND VOTE. IT’S OUR CIVIC DUTY. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY VOTED, THERE’S STILL TIME TO DO SO. YOU’VE GOT UNTIL TOMORROW TO GET YOUR BALLOT IN. AND SO MANY PEOPLE WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. IF YOU CAN’T FIND IT, YOU KNOW, IF YOU CAN’T FIND YOUR BALLOT, YOU CAN VISIT ONE OF OUR VOTE CENTERS AND GET A REPLACEMENT BALLOT THERE. OR YOU COULD COME DOWN HERE TO THE ELECTIONS OFFICE. AND WHAT KIND OF ID OR WHAT DO YOU BRING WITH YOU? JUST TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN BE VERIFIED? YEAH. YOU JUST SHOW UP AND THEN YOU’LL HAVE TO SIGN OUT YOUR BALLOT AND THEN YOU CAN CAST IT HERE. AND THE TURNOUT SO FAR, YOU SAID, HAS BEEN PRETTY PROMISING. YEAH, WE’RE AT ABOUT 31% VOTER TURNOUT SO FAR, SO THAT’S PRETTY GOOD. WE WEREN’T REALLY SURE WHAT TO EXPECT. THIS IS KIND OF A WEIRD ELECTION, BUT 31% SO FAR ISN’T BAD. AND THERE’S A KEY TIME FOR TOMORROW TO REMEMBER IF YOU DECIDE TO VOTE UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THAT 8:00 TIME FRAME? YEAH, SO ALL OF OUR VOTE CENTERS CLOSE AT 8 P.M. TOMORROW. IF YOU ARE IN LINE BY 8 P.M., STAY IN LINE. Election officials say don’t wait to vote.

Filling out your ballot will take less than a minute, and at this point, it’s best to drop it off in person if you can.

To make sure your ballot is counted:

Return it to a drop box or vote center before 8 p.m. on Election Day.Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day to count.If you’re unsure your ballot will arrive in time by mail, you can bring it to any polling place between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. tomorrow.
