Authorities have identified a man who was killed last month after his SUV crashed and flipped off Highway 101 in Santa Rosa.

John Plasier Jr., 55, of Kelseyville, was driving north in the middle lane of the highway the afternoon of Oct. 16 when he lost control of his Ford Expedition, according to the California Highway Patrol. The SUV veered left, struck the center median, crossed all lanes, hit a guardrail and rolled into a ditch.

When officers arrived, the vehicle was upside down with its roof partly underwater. Plasier was pulled from the SUV and taken to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity. Attempts by The Press Democrat to reach his family were unsuccessful.
