The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in California fell 16 cents to $5.64 in the past week, marking nearly four consecutive weeks of price decreases at the pump, AAA announced Thursday.
“Crude oil prices are down as the U.S. and Iran reach a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz,” AAA Mountain West Group spokesperson Doug Johnson said in a statement. “These sliding gas prices are welcome news for millions of people who are preparing to travel for Independence Day in record numbers starting next weekend.”

On the national scale, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is down to $3.99 for the first time since March 30, according to AAA.
