Discovering a buck in last summer’s lucky windbreaker can give you a thrill, but then you pause and remember something: You intended to spend that dollar bill on something rather special and splashy.
What did you mean to do with that single dollar bill? Oh right: Ride the famous Marina del Rey WaterBus, which really and truly and most wonderfully still costs a buck for a one-way trip.
The snug and on-the-go boat doesn’t run all year, but it is a sunshiny sight over several summer weeks. And those winning weeks have now commenced for 2026: The WaterBus is making waves from June 19 through Sept. 7 on select dates.
Do keep in mind that this helpful service is a weekends-only kind of deal, along with Fridays; you’ll need to hoof it around the marina or rent a bike on the other days of the week.
The busy boat has specific hours each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, too; the Friday and Saturday trips run 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. while the Sunday schedule starts at 11 a.m. and concludes at 9 o’clock.
