BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police arrested seven people and removed eight tons of trash in an encampment sweep in southwest Bakersfield on Wednesday.
On June 17th, 2026, the BPD’s Impact Unit, Bakersfield City Code Enforcement, and the Rapid Response Team responded to an encampment along railroad tracks in the area of Planz and Akers Roads.
Law enforcement arrested seven people for illegal lodging, trespassing on railroad property, and for active warrants. They were booked into Lerdo Jail.
Eight tons of trash were removed from ten encampments.

Before the operation, Flood Ministries visited the area to provide resources to those experiencing homelessness, but none accepted them.
One person was placed into the Brundage Lane Navigation Center.
