OAKLAND — A man was arrested in connection with a shooting on an Oakland freeway Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. in eastbound lanes of Highway 24 west of Old Tunnel Road, according to preliminary information released by the California Highway Patrol.

One victim reported their car was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle, while another discovered their car had been hit after arriving at their home. No one was injured in the shooting.
Witnesses provided a description of the suspect vehicle, which continued traveling eastbound into Contra Costa County.
Just before 4:10 p.m., the car crashed into the center divider of Interstate 680 near Olympic Boulevard in Walnut Creek. Officers took the suspect into custody as he tried to run from the scene, the CHP said, adding that the gun used in the shooting was also found.
The suspect, identified as a 57-year-old Carlos Ray Thomas of Oakland, was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on felony charges including attempted murder and shooting from a vehicle, the CHP said.
Around 4:30 p.m., all eastbound lanes of Highway 24 at Highway 13 were closed for an investigation, and traffic was directed onto southbound Highway 13. The roadway reopened just after 7 p.m.
The CHP’s Golden Gate Division Investigations Unit is handling the investigation into the shooting.
Hours later, a person was wounded in a freeway shooting, the California Highway Patrol said. The Friday morning incident marked the second Oakland freeway shooting in two days.
