Two community-minded Encinitas businesses are teaming up this summer to create a unique experience that combines oceanfront hospitality, pet-friendly fun and support for a worthy cause. Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) and Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas have partnered to present the inaugural Yappy Hour Summer Series at VAGA Bar, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, according to a news release.

Held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select Thursdays throughout the summer, Yappy Hour invites guests to bring their dogs and enjoy an evening of food, drinks and community connection while supporting a local nonprofit. During each event, Alila Marea will donate 15 percent of proceeds from featured food and beverage specials to Rancho Coastal Humane Society, up to $500 per event.

Confirmed dates include: Thursday, June 25, Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, Aug. 20.

Guests can expect a lively, dog-friendly atmosphere featuring signature cocktails, culinary specials, RCHS ambassador animals and opportunities to learn more about pet adoption and animal welfare programs.

For Rancho Coastal Humane Society, the collaboration provides a unique opportunity to connect with animal lovers while raising awareness about the organization’s mission to help animals and people thrive together. Representatives from RCHS will be on-site at each event sharing information about adoption programs, volunteer opportunities and resources for current and prospective pet owners.

“We’re excited to partner with Alila Marea on this fun summer series that brings people and pets together while supporting our mission,” said Kelly Peters, vice president, Community Impact at Rancho Coastal Humane Society, in the news release. “Events like Yappy Hour help us engage with the community in a meaningful way while raising awareness for the animals and programs we serve. Guests can bring their well-behaved pets – or perhaps we should say that pets are welcome to bring their well-behaved people.”

The partnership also reflects Alila Marea’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and creating memorable experiences for both locals and visitors, the news release stated.

“Alila Marea is proud to support Rancho Coastal Humane Society and welcome guests and their pets for a fun experience overlooking the Pacific,” said Mohamad Ghazizadeh, director of Sales & Marketing of the Alila Marea Beach Resort in Encinitas, in the news release. “This is a wonderful way to bring people together, celebrate our pet-friendly community and give back to an organization making a real difference in the lives of animals and families.”
