BERKLEY, Mich. – Police in Berkley are reminding residents to stay alert after a card skimming device and a camera were found at a drive-thru ATM late Sunday night.
An MSU Federal Credit Union in Berkley called the police on Oct. 12 regarding an alarm activation at one of their ATMs. Security discovered a skimming device and a small camera attached to the drive-thru ATM.
Police said the device was installed overnight and could be connected to similar crimes at other MSU Credit Union locations in the area.
Detectives and bank personnel are working to identify the suspects and determine if anyone was affected.
Authorities believe the device was on the ATM for only a few hours late Sunday night and said it may not have accessed anyone’s information.
Police are reminding residents to remain alert when using ATMs.
“Criminals continue to adapt and change methods to steal personal and financial information,” said Berkley police on Facebook. “Always inspect ATMs for unusual attachments or damage before use.”
