BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department’s Impact Unit and its partnerships participated in another encampment clean-up effort Wednesday, which resulted in the arrest of seven people.

The seven people arrested were booked into the Lerdo Jail for illegal lodging and trespassing on railroad property, along with “applicable active warrants.” One person was placed into the Brundage Lane Navigation Center.

BPD, along with the Bakersfield City Code Enforcement and Rapid Response Team, conducted the clean-up operation along the railroad tracks and property area of Planz and Akers Roads.

Through the operation, eight tons of trash was removed. City personnel cleaned up a total of 10 encampments along the railroad tracks.

Flood Ministries went to the area to provide resource options to those experiencing homelessness in the area prior to the operation but no one accepted those services, BPD said.
