A teenager was shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting in Clairemont Monday afternoon, San Diego police said.

Police received a report from multiple witnesses that occupants inside a sedan opened fire around 2:15 p.m. near Genesee Avenue and Mount Etna Drive, said Officer Colin Steinbroner.

Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene, and the victim was taken to a hospital, Steinbroner said.

“We’re working on finding the vehicle now based off witness statements, and we have the area held down right now,” Steinbroner said.

Investigators believe the sedan had two to four suspects inside and were trying to determine if the vehicle fled south or east away from the scene, Steinbroner said.

No other details were immediately available.
