Even if you don’t have time to find the much-missed treats from the era, or the VHS tapes you adored (and a machine to play them on), you can connect with the decade through dress, style, and music at a free DTLA bash.
No “as ifs” are required here, just straight-up chill: KCRW Summer Nights, the free series that pops up at a bevy of Southern California attractions and cultural destinations, is headed to the ASU FIDM Museum for a night of ’90s-inspired delights.
Find your favorite velvet choker, slip dress, or ground-skimming corduroys and RSVP at the KCRW site, then head to the Grand Avenue museum on June 26 for ’90s music and a peek at the “Obsessed: Fashion and Nostalgia in the ’90s” exhibit before it closes June 27.
The show celebrates some haute and genre-defining fashion superstars that defined the ’90s in dazzling style, spotlighting “… a pivotal moment when analog culture met the dawn of the internet.”
Look for “immersive gaming experiences” at the energy-filled event, food for purchase, and eye-catching photo spots themed to the ’90s flavor of the festivity to add to the evening’s most excellent aura.
