Did you know the Oceanside City Council wants to put another sales tax increase on the November ballot? This is after we recently voted to extend the Measure X sales tax measure.
Members conveniently shoehorned this item between a large general plan update item and a development item on the agenda for a special meeting Wednesday. You have to wonder if they do not want the public to weigh in on this.
They claim surveys support this increase, but no one I know does. Many just threw the misleading mailer in the trash.
Is the council aware that the county will also likely have a sales tax increase on the November ballot? The Oceanside ballot item is a general tax and can go for anything, not the projects it outlined in the ballot measure.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not voting for any new sales tax. Enough is enough.
