The Del Mar City Council voted June 16 on a two-year extension to the city’s agreement with nonprofit Del Mar Community Connections to continue its programs and services that serve older adults.
The city and Del Mar Community Connections began a formal agreement in 2023 for the nonprofit to provide support services. The extension runs through June 30, 2028.
“Since execution of the 2023 agreement, DMCC has successfully implemented its scope of services in alignment with the City’s goals and priorities,” according to a council agenda report. “Services provided include essential transportation to support access to groceries and medical appointments, healthy aging and education programs, and community events and activities for older adults.”
The report adds that the city “has maintained a long-standing partnership with DMCC to deliver services that address otherwise unmet needs within the Del Mar community’s older adult/senior population.”
The contract is valued at $75,000 in the first year of the extension, compared to the $60,000 annual amount of the current contract. The new agreement includes a consumer price index.
“DMCC has also expanded its programming to address evolving community needs, including the addition of the Senior Fair community resource event, a dementia caregivers support group, grief and loss sharing groups, and health insurance counseling,” according to the agenda report. “These enhancements have strengthened support for both older adults and their caregivers in the Del Mar community while broadening the overall impact of the DMCC program.”
