Vice President JD Vance headed to San Diego aboard Air Force Two late Monday, accompanied by his wife, Usha, a San Diego native, and their German shepherd, Atlas on a flight that began in Switzerland.
Vance had been in Geneva, leading the U.S. delegation in negotiations to end the Iran war.
Air Force Two left Emmen Military Air Base in Emmen, Switzerland, northwest of Lucerne, shortly before 8 p.m. Monday, Central European Summer Time, 11 a.m., Pacific Daylight Time, bound for a 90-minute refueling stop at Royal Air Force Mildenhall in England, where it arrived at 8:14 p.m. British Summer Time, 12:14 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
The plane landed at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George’s County, Maryland around 12:40 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time Tuesday.
The White House has not announced a schedule for Vance’s stay in San Diego.
He is scheduled to speak at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda Thursday, discussing issues shaping the nation’s future, and his recently published memoir, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” which focuses on his conversion to Catholicism in 2019.
