Echo Park—Heavy Manners Library is moving, but not far. The Echo Park arts and community space is leaving its Alvarado Street home for a larger location on nearby Sunset Boulevard, about 400 feet away from its current site. The new space will allow room for more books, events and outdoor programming. Before a planned mid-July reopening, Heavy Manners is seeking volunteers to help move books and zines on June 23, 26 and 30. Actor Xolo Maridueña talks roots, representation
El Sereno—El Sereno native Xolo Maridueña joined the L.A. Times’ De Los Podcast to discuss his roots, Latino representation and his growing slate of projects. The Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai actor credited local arts spaces, such as Casa 0101 and the Boyle Heights Art Conservatory and his mother’s creative influence, with helping shape his career and commitment to opening doors.
