JUST MOMENTS AGO, MANY OF YOU PROBABLY GOT ONE OF THOSE ALERTS ON YOUR CELL PHONE THIS MORNING ABOUT THIS EARTHQUAKE. AND WE JUST WANT TO SHOW YOU REALLY QUICKLY, EVEN HERE IN OUR STUDIO, WHILE WE’RE IN THE COMMERCIAL BREAK, WE EVEN NOTICED STARTED TO NOTICE OUR MONITORS HERE MOVING. THEY STILL ARE MOVING A LITTLE BIT HERE IN OUR STUDIO HERE IN SACRAMENTO. AND FOR THE MOST PART, WE DIDN’T FEEL ANYTHING ON THE GROUND. AND WHAT I WILL TELL YOU IS JUST BEAR WITH ME AS MY COMPUTER IS PLAYING A LITTLE CATCH UP HERE. BUT YES, THIS HAPPENING. REDWOOD VALLEY, CALIFORNIA, ABOUT 6.96.9 MILES SOUTH. THE AREA OF WILLITS, CALIFORNIA GIVES YOU A BETTER INDICATION. ABOUT 7.5 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF. IT IS EXACTLY WHERE THE EPICENTER OF THIS LOCATION IS. SO FOR FOLKS AROUND MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST AND EVEN IN TO AREAS AS FAR SOUTH AS SANTA ROSA, LIKELY FEELING SOME OF THE SHAKING FROM THIS. AND AGAIN, THE USGS IS COMING IN WITH A RATING OF SIX OUT OF 5.6. SO THAT IS SOMETHING CERTAINLY ANYTHING THAT GOES OVER A 4.0, A LOT OF FOLKS CAN USUALLY FEEL. I’VE HEARD FROM FOLKS HERE IN OUR STUDIO SAYING OUR LIGHTS IN THE STUDIO ARE SWAYING A BIT UNDER THAT INFLUENCE. NOW THERE GOES THE RED LINE. FINALLY, THE COMPUTER IS PLAYING CATCH UP, AND AGAIN, THIS INFORMATION IS COMING IN FROM USGS. SO LET ME CLEAR OUT THAT BLUE DOT AND ZOOM IN A LITTLE BIT CLOSER HERE TO WHERE YOU CAN CERTAINLY SEE WITHIN THE LAST HOUR, WE HAVE HAD THIS EARTHQUAKE MEASURE A PRELIMINARY HERE BEFORE REPORT AT 5.6. AND AS I ZOOM IN HERE TO SHOW YOU EXACTLY THE LOCATION, IT’S ALSO GOING TO POP UP AND SHOW YOU AGAIN THE INTENSITY AND THE AREA HERE. AND KEEP IN MIND THAT AS I WIDEN OUT, THIS MAP WILL CONTINUE TO GET SOME OF THE SHAKE REPORTS IN FROM FOLKS, BUT I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF YOU’RE JOINING US IN LAKE COUNTY AREA OR IF YOU ARE IN FORT BRAGG TO POINT ARENA, CLOVERDALE. HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE AREA. ALL OF THOSE AREAS LIKELY SHOULD HAVE FELT SOME SORT OF SHAKING. AND ESPECIALLY HERE AROUND THE CLEAR LAKE AREA, IS WHERE YOU MOST LIKELY FELT SOME OF THE SHAKING FROM THIS PRELIMINARY 5.6 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE. I’M ALSO GOING TO TAKE A MOMENT HERE TO LOOK AT THE DEPTH, BECAUSE THE DEPTH PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN EARTHQUAKES.
