Sacramento soccer fans are gearing up for two days of World Cup excitement as the Sacramento Republic FC hosts large, two-day community watch parties in Downtown Sacramento.The events will take place at La Cosecha Patio and surrounding areas of the plaza near 917 9th Street, and will coincide with the final group stage matches featuring Team USA and Mexico.On Wednesday, Mexico takes on the Czech Republic. On Thursday, the U.S. Men’s National Team competes against Turkey. The block parties start at 5 p.m. and will end at around 9:30 p.m.Organizers said demand has been overwhelming.Free tickets are required to attend, and reservations for both events have already sold out. More than 7,000 people reserved tickets for opening night, while the event space is designed to accommodate approximately 5,000 attendees.Still, Conner Sutton, the Republic’s vice president of fan experience, said people can sign up to get on a waitlist for the watch parties. More events are being planned for next week, he said.
