RIO LINDA, Calif. — Over a dozen vehicles have been burned in a fire reported at a salvage yard in Rio Linda Wednesday morning.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said an estimated 15 vehicles were involved in or damaged by the fire, which was reported just before 10:15 a.m.

At least two of the vehicles were electric, prompting a hazardous materials team response due to the added dangers posed by a damaged lithium-ion battery.

Fire officials said crews were able to contain the fire from spreading to any other vehicles and surrounding hazardous materials. No injuries have been reported, officials said.

The hazard team will remain on scene to address the environmental concerns, while the fire district works to determine the cause of the blaze.
