Juan Gonzales is our newest Community Education Specialist with the UC ANR Climate Smart Agriculture Program based in Fresno County. He is thrilled to provide technical assistance to growers for climate smart agriculture practices.Â
He grew up in Fresno County, in a small rural town named Kerman. Part of Juan’s life was spent working as a field laborer on various crops and living among grape vineyards and almond orchards. He continues to have strong ties to the west side of Fresno County, and currently resides within the city of Fresno.
Juan graduated in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Plant Science from Fresno State. He completed his internship at Family Tree Farms in Goshen as a field scout. Juan has recently pivoted his interest from pest management to climate conscious practices. He aims to improve soil health and water efficiency while simultaneously building personal relationships with local small farmers. Juan’s passion is in constructing strong community relations, being dependable, and putting the farmer first.
Juan is eager to provide outreach and education to Fresno County growers and ranchers for climate smart agriculture including CDFA’s Climate Smart Agriculture programs. These practices benefit farmers and ranchers by reducing water use, improving soil health, and promoting effective manure management. Give him a call to learn more about these practices and funding opportunities. Juan can be contacted by phone at 559-941-0453, by email at jpgonzales@ucanr.edu or in person at his office at 550 E. Shaw Avenue, Fresno, CA 93710.
