HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) — As the nation nears its 250th anniversary of America, fireworks stands are drawing early shoppers ahead of the fourth of July, according to local sellers along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
At Louisiana Fireworks in Pass Christian, customers can scan a box of fireworks and see how it will explode on a screen. Co-operator Velena Hines said traffic has increased as excitement builds closer to the holiday.
“Sales are increasing,” Hines said. “It’s been really nice to see people come in. Expecting to celebrate the 250th. A lot of vets have come in, which I can appreciate that. And I’d just say sales are steadily increasing for people coming in.”

In Long Beach, Crazy Carl Fireworks has been restocking shelves ahead of Fourth of July crowds. Owner Cindy Allred said some customers are crossing state lines to buy fireworks and sales are expected to increase as the holiday gets closer.
“The sales have been kind of slow right now, but they pick up generally when we get closer to the 4th of July,” Allred said. “It’ll get super busy. So anybody wants to come in, they need to come in really soon and beat the crowd.”

According to the American Pyrotechnics Association, Americans spent more than $2 billion on fireworks in 2025 and watched almost 300 million pounds of fireworks light up the sky. Those numbers are expected to rise in 2026 as Americans celebrate America 250.
