Sacramento restaurants retain Michelin Stars, others recognized on California guide

Five Sacramento restaurants earned recognition on California’s 2026 Michelin guide following an awards ceremony in San Diego on Wednesday night. Localis and The Kitchen retained their one-star status while Nixtaco, Pho Momma and Canon are on the California 2026 Bib Gourmand restaurant list. Michelin Stars are a coveted award in the culinary industry, as restaurants may receive one to three Michelin stars for exemplary food, according to the Michelin Guide. The criteria restaurants and chefs are judged on are: quality of ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in the cuisine, harmony of flavors, and consistency between visits. The Bib Gourmand Restaurant honor recognizes eateries that prioritize great food at a great value.
