SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — A community meeting is being held Wednesday evening in San Jose as city leaders continue the process of renaming Plaza de Cesar Chavez. The effort comes after allegations of sexual abuse against the late labor leader prompted officials to review places and monuments bearing his name.
City leaders are asking the community to help determine what comes next for the downtown gathering space, including possible new names. Wednesday’s listening session will give residents a chance to learn more about the renaming process, participate in small-group discussions, and share feedback through a community survey.

The meeting will help gather community input before any recommendations are brought forward or decisions are made.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Leininger Center at 1300 Senter Road. Those who wish to attend must RSVP.
