UPCOMING CLASSES

Intermediate Bridge Review with Scott Farr

Thursdays, July 2, 9, 16, & 23, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Join us for a four-week Bridge Review series designed for players with some experience who want to refresh their skills and strengthen their game. There is a $125 fee paid to the instructor.

Line Dance for Fun & Fitness (Beginner-Friendly)

Tuesday, July 7, from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. We’ll take things step-by-step as you learn simple, easy-to-follow line dances set to familiar, feel-good music. Each routine is taught slowly and clearly, with plenty of repetition so everyone can feel confident and comfortable. Instructor Heather Leon brings over 40 years of dance experience, holds a B.A. in modern dance choreography from UCLA, and is also a Certified Pilates Master with 30 years of teaching experience. There is a $20 fee per class paid to the instructor and this class meets the first Tuesday of each month.

2-Part Meditation: Your Key to Health, Wellness, and Peace

Wednesdays, July 8 and 15, from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Learn simple techniques to focus within, calm the mind, and bring peace to the body. Melynnique Seabrook is a singer-songwriter and meditation guide whose soothing voice and heart-centered music inspire healing, relaxation, and inner peace. Following a life-changing spiritual awakening, she began composing uplifting songs and guided meditations designed to reduce stress, nurture the spirit, and encourage a deeper connection within. There is a $10 fee paid to the instructor for each class.

Paint, Create, & Connect

Wednesdays, July 15, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Join fellow self-directed artists for a relaxed opportunity to create, socialize, and inspire one another. Participants are invited to bring their own supplies and work independently while enjoying the company, encouragement, and informal mentorship of other creatives. Artists may paint, sketch, draw, or work in the medium of their choice in the outdoor art studio or beautiful garden area. All skill levels and all mediums are welcome. This welcoming program offers a wonderful way to connect with other creatives, share ideas, and enjoy time making art in a supportive setting. Held on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Art Splash by Abrakadoodle: Coastal Doodle

Wednesday, July 22, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Create a calming, beach-inspired art piece using soft coastal colors and simple doodling techniques. Participants will learn how to use pastel tints and expressive doodles to design ocean waves, seashells, coral, seaweed, and coastal plants. This relaxing workshop focuses on color, texture, and simple patterns that come together to create a peaceful seaside-inspired design. No experience needed, just bring your creativity and love of the coast.

Mabelle Ashe is the owner and educational director of Abrakadoodle, a STEAM-based visual arts education program offering creative classes, workshops, camps, and art experiences for all ages. She is passionate about making art engaging, accessible, and inspiring, and Abrakadoodle has encouraged creativity in more than one million participants worldwide. $25 materials fee paid to instructor.

ONGOING CLASSES

Open Play Mah Jongg

Each Monday, from 10 a.m. – noon.  Enjoy a friendly game of beginner American Mah Jongg, a tile-based game that is enjoyed by individuals throughout the world! A basic understanding of the tiles and rules is required. Seating is first come, first served. Players are responsible for organizing tables and groups; the Senior Center cannot arrange seating or table assignments.

Texas Hold’em Poker for Beginners

Each Monday, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. This fun, beginner-friendly class teaches the fundamentals of Texas Hold’em, giving you the confidence to join a friendly game. Instructor George Bullette, Senior Center Board president, brings years of poker experience and will guide you through basic rules and strategies in a real game setting. This class is full—please call to be added to the waitlist.

Open Play Chess & Backgammon

Each Tuesday, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Come and enjoy a friendly game and get a great workout for your brain! All levels of players are welcome. Tables and playing pieces are furnished. A basic understanding of each game is required. Seating is first come, first served. The Senior Center cannot arrange seating or table assignments.

Chair Yoga

Each Thursday, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Chair Yoga is a type of yoga that is modified to allow participants to perform all exercises seated. Instructor, Peggie Moore, is passionate about working with students of every age, size, shape and ability. There is a $10 fee per class paid to the instructor. The first class is free.

Conversational Spanish

Each Friday, Beginner 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. and Beginner/Intermediate 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.  ¡Hablemos en Español! Jeannette Caruth learned Spanish solely through conversation and invites you to become more familiar with the language. Each class is a one-hour adventure of hearing and speaking another language. Designed for learners comfortable with the basics of Spanish and are ready to take their skills further. There is a $10 fee per class paid to the instructor.

Interested in a Coin Club?

A local senior is exploring whether there is community interest in forming an independent Coin Club for those who enjoy coin collecting, learning about the hobby, and connecting with others. To express interest, please contact Marty McGee at geemc972@gmail.com.
