The Padres are coming off a sweep of the Braves and have won six of their last 10 games. They’ve lost sight of the top of the division, but they’re a half-game behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the race for the NL’s No. 3 wild-card spot.

Los Angeles: DH Shohei Ohtani has seven homers and a 1.173 OPS this month, tops on the team. Two other regulars have an OPS over .640—1B Freddy Freeman (.938 OPS, 5 HRs) and 3B Max Muncy (.837 OPS, 2 HRs)—while OF Andy Pages has a .576 OPS and two homers in June. LHPs Alex Vesia (2.70 ERA) and Jack Dreyer (8.00 ERA) lead the team with 10 appearances each in June.
San Diego: OF Fernando Tatis Jr. is riding an 18-game on-base streak and leads the team with an .854 OPS in June. 3B Manny Machado (.706) is the only other regular with an OPS over .650 in June and he leads the team this month with four homers. LHP Wandy Peralta hasn’t allowed a run in 13⅓ innings, which includes three starts as an opener. RHP Jason Adam saved Wednesday’s game, but he has allowed six runs in 9⅓ innings this month.

Dodgers RHP Roki Sasaki (3-4, 4.76 ERA) | The 24-year-old is facing the Padres for the first time since choosing the Dodgers over San Diego during the 2025 international signing period. He has a 4.76 ERA in 104⅓ innings since debuting last year, although his strikeout rate has jumped from 17.4% last year to 24.1% and his walk rate has dropped from 13.7% to 8.6%. Sasaki has allowed 10 runs over his last 10 innings.
Padres RHP Walker Buehler (4-3, 3.96 ERA) | The former Dodger is facing his old friends for the second time after allowing three runs in 4 ⅔ innings in a no-decision last year. Buehler has allowed just one run in each of his last four starts (1.71 ERA), with the Padres going 3-1 in those games. He does, however, have just three quality starts in 15 starts this year.
Saturday
Dodgers RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (7-5, 2.65 ERA) | LA’s ace has quality starts in five of his last six starts (1.51 ERA), striking out 38 against seven walks over 4⅔ innings. He has a 4.97 ERA in five regular-season starts against the Padres but allowed just one run in seven innings in a tough-luck loss earlier this year. He also has a 5.63 ERA in two postseason starts against the Padres.
Padres RHP Randy Vásquez (6-5, 4.17 ERA) | His start was bumped from Wednesday to Saturday as the Padres gave him extra rest during a six-start slump that has seen him post a 6.91 ERA, walk 12 and allow seven homers over 27⅓ innings. The downturn began with allowing three runs in 4 ⅓ innings in a loss to the Dodgers. Vásquez has a 4.58 ERA in 17 ⅔ career innings against the Dodgers.
Sunday
Dodgers RHP Emmet Sheehan (3-5, 5.32 ERA) | He’s allowing a career-high 1.9 homers per nine innings despite amassing 76 strikeouts in 67⅔ innings. The Dodgers have lost each of his last four starts (7.31 ERA). Sheehan allowed four runs in four innings in a no-decision against the Padres in May and has allowed five runs in eight innings in his career against San Diego.
Padres RHP Michael King (5-6, 3.33 ERA) | He’s coming off his first win in more than a month, as he struck out five over seven shutout innings in a win over the Braves. King beat the Dodgers with nine strikeouts over seven shutout innings at Petco Park on May 18. King has a 2.15 ERA in 29 ⅓ career innings in the regular season against the Padres. He’s won three of his four regular-season starts against the Dodgers. King also beat the Dodgers in the 2024 NLDS (5 IP, 5 ER).

LHP Blake Snell (elbow) will throw a bullpen on Friday in his push to return following his NanoScope procedure to remove loose bodies. C Will Smith (neck) will return in early July, while OF Teoscar Hernandez (hamstring) could return nest week. The pitching staff is also without RHPs Blake Treinen (elbow), Brock Stewart (foot), Edwin Díaz (elbow), Tyler Glasnow (back), Evan Phillips (Tommy John), Gavin Stone (shoulder), Brusdar Graterol (shoulder, back), Ben Casparius (shoulder), Landon Knack (intercostal), Jake Cousins (Tommy John) and Bobby Miller (shoulder). UT Kike Hernandez (oblique) could return after the All-Star break.
San Diego: 2B Jake Cronenworth (concussion) is set to start a rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso as soon as he receives clearance. C Luis Campusano (toe, oblique) is facing live pitching in Arizona and RHP Jeremiah Estrada (knee) is also rehabbing in Arizona. RHPs Germán Márquez (forearm nerve) and Matt Waldron are making rehab starts with El Paso. RHPs Nick Pivetta (flexor) and Joe Musgrove (elbow) have moved their rehab work to the mound.
