BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 32-year-old man was arrested in southwest Bakersfield after police said allegedly found with meth intended for sale and trespassing. Police said it comes as there was an investigation targeting narcotics distribution to the homeless community.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Thursday, June 25th, 2026, officers with BPD’s Impact Unit completed a narcotics investigation in the 2400 block of Panama Lane.
32-year-old John Robertson was arrested on multiple charges, including possession of controlled substances for sale and trespassing. Robertson was allegedly found to be in possession of a total of 4.9 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, packaging materials (individual baggies), $30, and a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe.
According to police, BPD Impact officers have diligently tried to identify distributors of narcotics to the homeless population in this area.
BPD said over the last several months, they has received numerous calls for service related to people experiencing homelessness loitering in the parking lot, consuming narcotics and being under the influence of narcotics, trespassing, and vandalism to nearby businesses.
“This case highlights the BPD’s continued commitment to safeguarding vulnerable members of the community, particularly the homeless population, from the dangers of illegal narcotics, as Impact Unit officers continue efforts to disrupt drug trafficking operations, reduce the availability of dangerous substances, enhance the safety and well-being of subjects experiencing homelessness, and protect the lives and property of the people we serve,” said in a release.
