The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration announced it will hold public meetings to probe the California Coastal Management Program, the federal-state partnership that gives California authority over its beaches and shorelines.
Specifically, the agency will review “any new input from relevant stakeholders regarding spaceport infrastructure, offshore oil production, pipeline maintenance, desalination projects, and undersea cables,” according to a Federal Register notice published Friday.
The Trump administration’s review of California’s coastal management comes after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick alleged the state is likely violating federal law.
