Sacramento welcomes new sister city from Mexico

A DELEGATION OF 35 PEOPLE FROM MORELIA, MEXICO, CAME TO SACRAMENTO TO TAKE PART IN TODAY’S SISTER CITY AGREEMENT CEREMONY. THE AGREEMENT TIES SACRAMENTO AND MORELIA THROUGH CULTURE, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. MORELIA IS A COLONIAL CITY OF 850,000 PEOPLE. THAT IS THE CAPITAL OF THE STATE OF MICHOACAN. IT IS ALSO THE CHILDHOOD HOME OF SACRAMENTO CITY COUNCIL MEMBER ERIC GUERRA. IT’S A GREAT WAY OF LOOKING AT HOW MORELIA AND SACRAMENTO, TWO CAPITAL CITIES, CAN MUTUALLY GROW, BOTH CULTURALLY BUT ECONOMICALLY. THE TOURISM OF BOTH ECONOMIES. BOTH OF US HAVE AMAZING FILM FESTIVALS. BOTH OF US HAVE ROOTS IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, HOW WE BRIDGE BUILDING BRIDGES TOGETHER TO COMMUNITIES FOR OUR MUTUAL GROWTH.
