BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department’s Impact Unit officers conducted a narcotics investigation that led to an arrest Thursday.
Law enforcement arrested 32-year-old John Robertson on multiple charges, including the possession of controlled substances for sale and trespassing.
Police conducted the investigation in the 2400 block of Panama Lane.
Robertson was found to be in possession of 4.9 ounces of crystal meth, packaging materials and a glass meth smoking pipe.
BPD has received numerous calls over the last several months relating to homelessness loitering in the parking lot, consuming narcotics and being under the influence of narcotics, trespassing and vandalism to nearby businesses, which are directed to the department’s impact unit.
“This case highlights the BPD’s continued commitment to safeguarding vulnerable members of the community, particularly the homeless population, from the dangers of illegal narcotics, as Impact Unit officers continue efforts to disrupt drug trafficking operations, reduce the availability of dangerous substances, enhance the safety and well-being of subjects experiencing homelessness, and protect the lives and property of the people we serve,” the department said.
