Northern California communities that allow, prohibit use of fireworks

As the Fourth of July approaches, it’s important to note that in California some communities allow or prohibit safe and sane fireworks. In places where fireworks are allowed in California, the safe and sane ones usually display the California State Fire Marshal’s seal. Illegal fireworks are those that fly and explode in the air and could result in hefty fines. Safe and sane fireworks officially went on sale Sunday in some communities and will be available to be purchased until the evening of Fourth of July. Counties and cities also allow fireworks to be used at certain times.Where are fireworks allowed? Sacramento County allows the sale and use of safe and sane fireworks in most cities including Rancho Cordova, Folsom and Elk Grove. Unincorporated like Fair Oaks and Antelope are also allowed to use those fireworks. In San Joaquin County, safe and sane fireworks are prohibited in unincorporated parts of San Joaquin County, but they’re allowed within city limits of Stockton, Lodi, Tracy, Manteca and Ripon. The city of Dixon in Solano County allows safe and sane fireworks. Where are all fireworks banned? All fireworks, including safe and sane, are strictly prohibited in El Dorado County. Possession, use, sale or transportation of fireworks are banned during the holiday period. The cities of Davis, Vacaville, and Fairfield also bans the sale and use of all fireworks. All fireworks are illegal in unincorporated Placer County including those with the safe and sane label. Fireworks are prohibited in areas such as the cities of Auburn and Colfax, the town of Loomis, and unincorporated communities such as Penryn, Newcastle, North Auburn, Granite Bay, Meadow Vista, Foresthill, Tahoe City and Kings Beach. The possession and use of all fireworks, including safe and sane, are illegal in Nevada County. Where fireworks are limitedRoseville, Rocklin and Lincoln are the only cities in Placer County that allow fireworks. In Yolo County, safe and sane fireworks are allowed in West Sacramento, Woodland, and Winters but are strictly prohibited in unincorporated areas. Amador County prohibits fireworks in incorporated areas, but cities such as Jackson, Sutter Creek, Ione, and Plymouth are the only areas where fireworks can be lit up.
