Two motorcyclists suffered critical injuries Saturday afternoon when their vehicles collided with a car in Highland Township, officials said.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, multiple 911 calls came in shortly before 5 p.m. reporting a serious crash involving a passenger vehicle and two motorcycles on North Milford Road near Wind Valley Lane. Initial callers said one of the motorcyclists was unresponsive following the collision.
A preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred as a 28-year-old Fenton resident driving a 2019 BMW was attempting to turn left from southbound North Milford Road into a private driveway and collided with a 2006 Suzuki, operated by a 26-year-old Grand Blanc resident, and a 2010 Kawasaki, operated by a 21-year-old Grand Blanc resident, the sheriff’s office said.
The motorcyclists were ejected during the crash, the sheriff’s office said, and were subsequently transported to area hospitals. As of Monday morning, the sheriff’s office had no updates on their conditions, which were listed as critical on Saturday.
Both motorcyclists were wearing DOT-approved helmets and additional protective riding gear at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s office said. The BMW driver had been wearing a seatbelt and wasn’t injured, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators don’t believe alcohol and/or drug use were factors in the crash, but haven’t determined if speed contributed to the collision, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation is ongoing.
