The North Coast Optimist Club President Joe Kellejian recently announced that Veterans Village of San Diego CEO Akilah Templeton will be the guest speaker at the club’s Zoom meeting on Tuesday, July 7, at 4:30 p.m. Interested parties may join the Zoom Meeting by contacting Jim Parrotte at jimparrotte@hotmail.com for the Zoom link to the meeting. This meeting is open to the public.
In her position as chief executive officer, Templeton oversees operations at Veterans Village of San Diego whose mission statement is to support America’s veterans and their families in overcoming homelessness, addiction, unemployment, barriers to health and mental health care, and related challenges through a variety of comprehensive programs and services, a news release stated.
Templeton is expected to make a presentation on Stand Down 2026 – occurring July 17 and July 18 at the Arts District Liberty Station. Stand Down is a two-day event bringing together comprehensive support from public, private and community organizations to connect vital services for veterans experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Support includes food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, benefits counseling, and referrals to a broad set of other services.
