The landscape of the Bay Area’s art galleries has been rapidly evolving in recent years. While some longtime favorites remain pillars of the local scene, others have had to rethink their models or made the decision to close.
But still, there remain many surprising new discoveries at galleries from Dogpatch to over the bridges to be excited about.
Discussing those matters and more, on July 11, a group of representatives from Bay Area galleries is gathering for the discussion “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About the San Francisco Art World * But Were Afraid to Ask” at the Roxie Theater presented by the Chronicle and Fraenkel Gallery, hosted by Chronicle Arts & Culture Columnist Tony Bravo.
The event, part of the third year of the Fraenkel Film Festival at the Roxie, honors “Slice of the Pie,” Fraenkel’s collaborative show with work from14 Bay Area art galleries by more than 40 individual artists.
This one-afternoon-only celebration of the Bay Area art scene invites you to put your questions to a panel of art-world experts during a candid, thoughtful and hilarious conversation.
