Hundreds of California children from military families will get financial aid for their post-secondary schooling thanks to the largest-to-date fund from the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, the non-profit announced.
Breaking the foundation’s 64-year history for the largest scholarship investment, The MCSF announced last week it is investing over $12 million to support 2,906 students across the country, including 237 students from California. The organization will be awarding need-based scholarships to children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen for the 2026-27 academic year.
Since its establishment, MCSF has poured more than $235 million and 60,000 scholarships for military families, giving them the opportunity for post-secondary education, MCSF said. Their main objective is to “honor Marines by educating their children” by providing financial assistance.

Inspired by the values of honor, courage, and commitment, these outstanding students represent incredible potential,” said Ted Probert, president and CEO of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
MCSF said its scholarship recipients have an accomplished track record, representing top scholars surpassing the national average of 54% with a 91% graduation rate. These scholars include 48% who are first-generation college students and 67% who graduate with little to no debt, MCSF said.
Through these initiatives, MCSF hopes to equip students with long-term financial stability and preparation for the workforce.
“Investing in their education is both a responsibility and a privilege,” said Probert. “Our work isn’t finished until more eligible children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen can pursue the opportunities they deserve.”
