BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The California Highway Patrol and the Bakersfield Police Department arrested a drug trafficker after conducting a monthslong investigation.
Law enforcement, along with Drug Enforcement Administration special agents, intercepted and arrested 27-year-old Jesus Marquez-Ruiz after observing him allegedly engage in suspected narcotics transactions throughout Bakersfield.
Marquez-Ruiz was long suspected of being a mid-level narcotics trafficker who supplied street-level drug dealers throughout the city.
Officers obtained and conducted search warrants for three properties on Monday, June 29 — 219 Whitlock St., 225 Whitlock St. and 410 Boomerang Dr. — and seized several pounds of various drugs.
BPD reported that officers confiscated 1.2 pounds of heroin, 4.6 pounds of meth and 3.4 pounds of fentanyl, along with a 9mm handgun and more than $2,000 in cash.
Marquez-Ruiz was booked into the Kern County jail on multiple narcotics and firearm-related charges, according to police.
