BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The attorney who represented Bakersfield Christmas Parade crash defendant Alan Booth over the past two and a half years declared a conflict Wednesday and was relieved as counsel.

Moving forward, Booth will be represented by attorney BreAnne Ruelas through the Indigent Defense Program.

At Wednesday’s hearing, Ruelas and prosecutor Brandon Stallings agreed to a new trial date of Sept. 21.

Booth, 75, faces multiple felony counts in connection with the 2023 crash. His blood alcohol-content was allegedly 0.28%, more than three times the legal limit.

In January, he was found guilty of misdemeanor DUI charges in a separate case for driving drunk months after the crash. In that case, he drove to Jim Burke Ford to get a tire repaired and was arrested after providing breath samples that returned BAC readings of 0.231 and 0.233%.
